The name “Judas Ear”

In German it is called “Judas ear.” The origin of this name likely comes from the biblical apostle Judas, who is said to have hanged himself on an elder tree. Auricularia is often found growing on elder trunks. In addition, its shape resembles an ear. This is how the name Judas ear came about.
