The Pleurotus, which belongs to the family of oyster mushroom relatives, has shell-shaped or semicircular fruiting bodies with a shiny grayish color. The flesh itself is white. In the wild, the Pleurotus grows primarily on hardwood. Besides the champignon, this mushroom is the most cultivated edible mushroom in the world in terms of quantity. It grows in dense clusters.
During cultivation, we pay particular attention to regulating the temperature. This must be lowered to relatively low levels in accordance with the natural needs of the mushroom in order to trigger the formation of the fruiting bodies (fructification). We cultivate this mushroom on a special wood substrate, bring the fruiting bodies fresh from the harvest to drying and then to further processing. This is extremely important for this mushroom, as otherwise the valuable components can be lost.
