Probiotic bacteria are beneficial. They aim to stabilize the gut flora and support digestion and the utilization of nutrients. This is especially useful when disruptive factors such as illness or medication are involved.
Your dog’s gut performs at its best every day. Even though dogs are considered enzyme digesters, bacteria in the animal gut play an important role. “Good” and “bad” species usually stay in balance. However, there are some disruptive factors that can reduce the number of beneficial bacteria. These include stress, chronic illnesses, and gastrointestinal infections. Medications can also affect the microcosm in your dog’s gut—especially antibiotics. They don’t just reduce pathogens, but also helpful players in the gut.
With a probiotic, you can supply your dog with bacteria that are considered health-promoting. The goal is to persuade them to stay. We do this by luring them with food. Yes, you heard that right—gut bacteria get hungry too. We add Jerusalem artichoke to our PROBIOVET, which is much better tolerated than other bacterial “food” (e.g., maltodextrin). What makes our product special isn’t just the combination of a probiotic and a well-tolerated prebiotic. Alongside Enterococcus faecium NCIMB 10415 and Lactobacillus acidophilus CECT 4529, it also includes a bacterial strain that you’ll often search for in vain in many supplements: Bacillus subtilis DSM 155 44. A promising trio that can be used for a weak gut flora, stress, heat, athletic challenges, constipation, diarrhea, and flatulence. These beneficial microorganisms are also often recommended after medication (especially antibiotics) or after gastrointestinal infections.
